Joint grant

An individual applies for a grant

1

Application

You can apply through My Pages at vr.is. Members of other LÍV unions apply to their union.

2

Invoice

The invoice must be in the name of the applicant, and confirmation of payment of the invoice must be included.

Only payment receipts that show confirmed transactions/payments from an Icelandic bank account/payment cards to the education provider in question, are accepted. The fund does not accept payment receipts for education/courses that have been paid in cash.

3

Information

A description of the studies must be included with the application if it is unclear what kind of studies/course is applied for.

4

Payment

The grant is paid into the member’s account if the fund’s conditions are met.

Note

The grant awarded is 90% of the invoice for the studies, work-related course fees or conference fees. The maximum grant is ISK 180,000 and ISK 540,000 when a member is entitled to accumulation.

The grant provided for a leisure course is 50%, up to a maximum of ISK 40,000, which is deducted from the annual maximum grant.

NOTE: A leisure grant does not affect accumulation.

The travel grant provided for studies/work-related courses is 50%, up to a maximum of ISK 50,000, which is deducted from the annual maximum grant.

Joint grant for individual and company

1

Cost

The studies must cost a minimum of ISK 200,000.

2

Invoice

It does not matter whether the paid invoice is in the name of the company or the member.

3

Application

A member applies for the grant on My Pages at vr.is or to their LÍV union and that application is also valid for the company’s grant.

Therefore, there is no need to submit a separate application, as it is stated that this is a joint application and that the studies are part of the member’s career development plan.

4

Processing

Upon approval of the application, the grant amount is deducted from the rights of both. It is based on a 50/50 split, but if the member is entitled to accumulation, the accumulation is used first and then the rights of the company.

5

Withdrawal

Paid to the bank accounts of both.

6

Grant amount

The total grant is 90% of the tuition fee – a maximum of ISK 570,000 (ISK 180.000 member + ISK 390.000 company)

or

ISK 800,000 when the member is entitled to accumulation.
